Tomales Beach

The Waves
Yesterday brought a spectacular trip to the beach. Being a Pieces, I need my time of sea air and sand. The sun was shining and warm, which I found to be a great gift on second to the last day of November. A long walk was followed by an equally nice long lounge...as I could not choose, 2 other pictures will follow...

Surfboard
Though this image does not convey the scent and feel of the ocean, I loved the red and the wax. Years (many) ago I spent the majority of my life on the beach, exploring, eating, drinking, smoking, kissing, sleeping, talking and finally studying. I did not have the desire to surf, one afternoon of "eating" sand cured me of that, so my involvement was one of watching...and sometimes waiting...

Seaweed
Seaweed was freely scattered across the beach, though the sand was bright and clean. A difference that I noted was that when you walked along, you did not risk stepping in tar. Tar was a fixture of the Santa Barbara beaches and you knew that it would be nice to get home and unstick it from in between toes, and other nameless areas.

Mayonaise

Mayonaise
I learned something new yesterday...mayonaise is delightful on french fries. Ketchup may be out for me...and mayo may be the new ketchup. Funny how we as humans are such creatures of habit...imagine all burger joints in the world implementing a transition of condiment with their beloved fries...and would "we the people" revolt?
I am noticing I am quite focused on food lately...I hope it is the Holiday's...and that this too shall pass...

My Lovely Son

Matthew and Liz
Yesterday I was treated to a lovely afternoon/evening at my Son's girlfriends parents home. The second Holiday I have been blessed to spend with a lovely family, 5 Generations, who truly love and care for each other...a sight to treasure in today's harsh World. The dinner was exceptional (thank you Janet) , and Bruce outdid himself this year with the Mango Mambo. I need a couple of days to dry out...better get that 'calendared'!
Liz's brother has a baby, and it stirred something in me...how cool would it be to have a "grandbaby"...well we will see...hopefully someday..

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving, Curtis Park
As I drove home from the gym this morning...yes, I did join, and yes I am going...I had a moment of being thankful for the beauty in which I currently live every day. The leaves have turned, and are following, quite literally everywhere. Neighbors were out walking, jogging and dog walking...enjoying the clearing day, and burning those last few calories before the excessive eating begins...now what did I do with my old spandex pants??!!

The Calm

The Calm
Today is finally here...the BSK Reunion Party. I have been looking forward to this since it was first discussed over drinks in Philly last June. Here is a picture of "The Calm"...my precious son taking a nap on a loveseat that no longer fits him. I re-arranged the furniture, and this living room finally has a feel that has eluded me for 15 years...just lovely. With in the next couple of hours the house will be filled with the smell of lasagna, garlic bread, beer and 25 year old men, Liz, Laura and I will be enjoying margaritas in the kitchen...I am very lucky indeed....

Safeway Horse

Safeway Horse
One on the best things about Sacramento is how it has evolved over the last 10 to 15 years. 20 years ago you were pressed to find an interesting dining spot...not to mention something of interest to the eye. Sunday I went to Safeway as preparation for tomorrow's BSK Festivities. This magnificent horse greets all who enter, and retreat. It reflects one of the many strides Sacramento has made...and is truly a treat for the eyes.

My Kitchen

My Kitchen
The Joy of Cooking! Yesterday bought several hours of cooking for the BSK Extravaganza later this week. I must say the smell was fantastic, and while I was thinking I must do this more often...until...I had to clean up! So onward and upward...and maybe many more hours of cooking...or at least day dreaming of cooking!

Sonoma Stream

Sonoma Stream
Yesterday brought an adventure to Napa and Sonoma...the meeting of new people, the viewing of amazing photography (I especially like the "Red" Series), some Gallery hopping including Phillip Glashoff, good food, beautiful weather and great conversation...and oh yes, a bit of Football...go Sooners?! This picture was taken by the Town Square...and in reviewing it I could imagine it both as looking up through the trees to the sky OR looking down into the reflection of the water...

Hannah

Hannah
After yesterday's post of Jack, I felt Hannah should have her moment in the spotlight. She came from a backyard, outdoor breeder, and was 2 when she moved in with me. She had recently birthed a litter of 5, none survived more than a week...they had been infected with a virus at conception. She had never been cuddled, been housed indoors, seen a man, and she cried with every step she took on my wood floors for 36 hours. Top that off with an ear infection, worms, hideous smell, and the serious need for a hysterectomy, it adds up to 'what the .... ?' Today she is sweet, loving, and sometimes tries to be Alpha! Oh, and unless you enjoy shrieking and are a Professional...do not try to cut her nails!

Another lovely day with Jack

Jack
I am one of the luckiest women in the world. I enjoy this beautiful face every time I walk through my front door. Jack came to me on the birthday of an amazing woman who I wish circumstances would have allowed me to know better. She passed away unexpectedly, and several months later I got a call to "foster". I went to pick Jack (he came with a Chinese name I really never mastered) up at a Vet Hospital where he had been "left" for 2 months, he had an eye injury, and demodex. The ride home was less than stellar, barking, screaming and throwing himself around in his crate. He quieted down when I said..."Hey, knock it off Jack!" ... so Jack it was. Once he was through my front door, he made himself at home, and I knew within two hours he would never leave. He brightens my life...

Macy's Philadelphia
During my last "tour de Conference" in Philadelphia earlier this month, I popped into the downtown (and maybe 'only town') Macy's. What a treat ... I was greeted with music being played on the World's oldest, and largest operating organ. The Organ-eer was "original"... and fantastic at his trade. The entire first floor was at a stand still, as we listened and enjoyed. As a side note, if you mention you are from out of State and flash your driver's license, they gift you with an additional 11% off your purchase. Did I mention clothes and shoes are not taxed ... two very good reasons, aside from the historic beauty, to consider Philadelphia home.

Pink Cycle
Shot this on Market Street in Philadelphia. Visiting for a Conference, and lucky enough to be in the City where my Son relocated this year. I imagined that this 'bike' could provide adventures I had not yet entertained...and the clothes that would set this off...oh, my!

Lincoln Center-Dallas, Texas

View of the inside out, Lincoln Center, Dallas, Texas
Dallas is beautifully clear in November, windy, unfriendly to pedestrian traffic, and flat with scattered trees. The hotel seemed to thrive on having usual amenities "closed". Not too sure that I will return to Dallas for vacation...work yes...fun...not so much!

Display Chair-Urban Outfitters, Philadelphia, PA
Published 11/17/2008

Today, as with most days, an idea bolted in my head. Photothree65 is now underway. My goal is to publish one photograph I have taken every day for the next year, sharing my point of view with the World, and reflecting on its' comments.
I hope you will enjoy, and I look forward to where this adventure will lead!
