Rain, Mud and Muck

Rain, Mud and Muck

It seems as if it has been raining for a very long time...perhaps that is just my perception. The sky remains gray, the ground remains wet and slippery, and for horses the pastures remain mucky.

This is a picture I shot yesterday while touring back roads of my memories...good stuff! I like how the mud adds a dimension of texture and color to the blanket...and I know how much work the owner will invest to clean it...I do...and do not...miss those moments...

A Lazy, Rainy Sunday Morning

A Lazy, Rainy Sunday Morning

Someone once wrote to me that rainy mornings are best spent in bed...and I agree...though 2 pugs and a cat do not equal other mornings I have had in the past few months...they are my reality this rainy morning...

Today is my Son's 27th Birthday. He has had a full weekend of celebration, and when I spoke to him earlier, he was enjoying brunch out and looking forward to napping most of the afternoon. Some memories for me are like yesterday, and others I have completely lost within 2 minutes. I clearly remember my pregnancy and Matts' birth...holding him, marveling at his perfection at 2 am feedings and enjoying every minute he contributed to making my house a home.

This is a picture of a watercolor I did of him 3 years ago. It is based on how I feel his personality and his love for soccer...it takes in to account his shoulder which was injured in an automobile accident...and his ever lovely orange hair.

Happy Birthday Matt...I love you with all my heart....

Rain

Rain
One of the advantages of travel is getting to see things that are not your norm. This was especially true this morning when of all things I saw and felt rain...quite different from the 113 degrees I was barely breathing thru in Sacramento.
This is a quick shot of the puddles in the parking lot as we left for the day...not remarkable by themselves...though a nice site that makes me look forward to Fall...

Cloudy Sky

Cloudy Sky

Today was rainy...again. I know we need the water, and am looking forward to having permission to water a yard and possibly a garden this summer. I had a nice run in the rain, something that I have not done before due to the timing of "hair". It was actually quite nice...and peaceful. The pace is a bit slower than usual, and focus is required to avoid puddles, and not slip. I rediscovered an old favorite song of mine last night, Jackson Browne's "Late for the Sky"...at the slower pace, it is possible to sing and run at the same time...bless my neighbors!

This is a picture I took today while sneaking out for a Chai...taken while...you guessed it...driving. I am thinking that a "Bill" will be introduced shortly to ban photographing while driving...guess I should design a protest sign...just in case...
