Today is Giovanni's 8 month "Birthday"!  We celebrated by taking him to the barn, and introducing him to our friend's horses!   He loved the softness, and the manes...and actually took a brief ride supported by his Mom and Samantha.

This is my favorite picture of the series...taken in the barn, after his ride!  Perhaps we will be seeing him in a Lead Line Class towards the end of the year!

It seems as if it has been raining for a very long time...perhaps that is just my perception. The sky remains gray, the ground remains wet and slippery, and for horses the pastures remain mucky.

This is a picture I shot yesterday while touring back roads of my memories...good stuff! I like how the mud adds a dimension of texture and color to the blanket...and I know how much work the owner will invest to clean it...I do...and do not...miss those moments...

So what started as intent to share this awesome horse shot I was lucky enough to get today, turned into a 30 minute journey to remember my "login" and correct password for my Blog. Even with the hints I hide away in my iPhone I was still off base...close but no cigar if you will. I am fully aware of my lack of memory now...and hold out little to no hope for the next couple of decades of my life...

Tomorrow I leave for LA, for several days of work, and perhaps a bit of fun...guess I need to get back to earning miles and airline miles...and thinking about where to go next...

Tonight while shopping for Friday's Baby Shower it hit me that my Daughter is really pregnant, and Gio is due to be born soon...not that this fact is not in my face most days...I can "see" that Laur is pregnant...and we talk about it ad-nauseam...though while selecting liquor that she cannot drink for the Shower, and picking up formula, diapers, wipes, baby shampoo, and super Maxi Pads...I finally get it...I am going to be a Grandmother, whether my driver's license verifies I meet the age criteria or not.

This is a picture of a horse posted on a street sign in China. It reminded me of the days and nights that were spent loving and caring for Elvis...our Welsh Pony...great times of being Mom and Daughter focused on a magnificent creature who bonded us in a common interest and passion...and now Laur will have the opportunity to create those memories with Gio...and hopefully I can tag along for a bit of the ride....

High Tea

High Tea
Sunday brought another trip to the barn (Goldhill's Welsh) , and my daughter rode High Tea. It was very foggy and cold, and while we froze looking on, Tea seemed to enjoy the attention. She has been trained to respond to hand signals when working in the Round Pen, and it was really quite fascinating to watch. Gerald is an excellent 'Coach' for the horses, as well as for my lovely charming daughter. This is a picture of Tea, being ridden by my daughter in the open arena. Laur is 'cropped'...as she had on her 'oh my gosh, my legs are out of shape face!', which was priceless,...good to know I am smart enough NOT to post it! I love this mane....

One on the best things about Sacramento is how it has evolved over the last 10 to 15 years. 20 years ago you were pressed to find an interesting dining spot...not to mention something of interest to the eye. Sunday I went to Safeway as preparation for tomorrow's BSK Festivities. This magnificent horse greets all who enter, and retreat. It reflects one of the many strides Sacramento has made...and is truly a treat for the eyes.
