Choices

Choices

Life is abundantly full of choices...those that are right and healthy...in a move your life forward kind of way, those that are comfortable as you are familiar with them, those that bring you joy, those that you keep hoping that if you just try a little harder/wait a little longer will bring you the safe and warm space we all seek.

Then there are the unhealthy choices, that feel good a minute here and there...the ones you can hear your Mother admonish you for, the ones you do not freely share with your friends and family...you cannot...the ones that even you cannot explain to yourself...at night...alone...in the peace of the darkness.

Lastly there are choices that once made, continue to have reverberations though out your life...for the rest of your life.  At this stage of my game, I only have several of those left...and I love them.

This is a photograph of my Father and my Grandson, one of many I took last weekend...a nice example of reverberation...spanning 4 Generations...and proof that Choice is a great thing...

Fractured

Fractured

Reminds me of a femur, ulna, radius or heart...some days your personality, or your views in general.  Great thing that the World still turns, and hope still springs eternal.

I am one of the luckiest people in the World!  Tomorrow my Father turns 83 years old.  He is the one person who despite all screw ups and odds has loved me every day of my life...no matter how imperfect I am, or how I think, behave or conduct my life.  A true gift, and one I attempt to apply to my children and grandchild...though following in his footsteps requires a boot several sizes larger than I possess.

This is another picture from the Zoo series...another that reminded me of China...it is a window of an old car under renovation...that has not made it to the top of the list...and another shot that I have taken that when I walk away...draws crowds that wander over to see what was shot worthy...and fail to understand...oh well, maybe next time...

Full Circle

Full Circle

I have come to learn that some of the best gifts come when you are not expecting them. My morning was like that...and now several hours later my lovely, perfect Son emails me this picture of my Father, and himself.

My Father is in Philly this week for a meeting. He called me while I was enjoying Atlanta, as did my Son. I had wished that they would catch up...though was not too hopeful given both of their busy schedules...and then this arrives...how fantastically special...and to add frosting to this cake...my Son is WEARING the scarf I bought for him last year in New York...truly a red letter moment!
